About
Dear visitors, welcome on myname.com
Here are notes that could fan your curiosity. First, I have been carving wood only with hand tools for a personal challenge and artistic purpose. I use raw wood and play with grain thinness to work on details and put objets into relief. Moreover, each pieces is unique in its shape, there is no reproduction in an effort to keep a constant creativity through ephemeral of ideas.
About the material, I have been using mostly local wood. Fruit trees like pear, apple, plum and blackthorn are species that provide a ideal compact wood texture and a very rich design for small sculptures. On the occasion of my strolls I am discovering worthy species for the work of meticulousness: the birch with its white and light wood, the quince tree with its beige and yellow dense wood.
The finishing is made with natural products: linseed oil to brighten up veins and give a warmest aspect, bee wax (mix with citrus distillate) to bring a protection against use and humidity which can be renew according to your own expertise.
I have exhibited some sculptures at Engine Gallery in Toronto and a series of jewellery at the Craft Council of Newfoundland & Labrador gallery in St John's, for what I earned a extreme feeling of joy.
